What you will need:

  • fan for drying

  • detergent and fabric softener

  • slicker brush (pet brush)

  • spray bottle (for handwashing)

  • Little Green (optional)

  • small towel (for handwashing)

Handwashing

For Bathtub: Fill tub with COLD water. NEVER use any sort of heat or hot water on your fursuit as it will ruin the fur and leave it with an unsettling texture. Pour into the tub at least a cap-full of your detergent of choice. Personally I would recommend Woolite® which is meant for a Gentle wash. Using your hand, mix the detergent into the water to activate the soap suds. Then soak your fursuit parts into the water. For your fursuit head, try to keep the eyes above the water as to not damage them. They are water resistant but not water proof. Using your hands, gently scrub your fursuit making sure to get every inch. We don't want a stinky suit so make sure to really get in there! After washing everything, leave it to soak for a few minutes. After you've left it to soak, drain your dirty water making sure to squeeze as much water as possible out of the suit. Once the water has been drained from the tub and the suit, use a shower head (if possible) to rinse off the suit. (If you don't have a shower head, you can use the tub faucet and run your suit underneath it) Once finished, your suit will still be very heavy from being wet so DO NOT HANG IT. That may cause your suit to get damaged so try to lay your suit parts on a flat surface. You can also use a dryer for only the handpaws and the tail if your dryer has a NO HEAT setting with low spin. Once all your suit parts are ready to dry, make sure to brush everything so when it dries, everything is nice and neat.

For handwashing: Fill a spray bottle with 1 part detergent to 3 parts COLD water. Cover the eyes of your suit head using paper towels just to keep them from getting damaged. Spray every part of your suit making sure not to leave anything dry. Very gently scrub your suit with a damp cloth or your hands to activate the suds. Once your suit is completely coated, fill your spray bottle with ONLY water and repeat the process but instead, you're rinsing the suit. Brush out your suit and place in a well ventilated area to dry. Fans are optional but will increase the drying process.

Little Green

For Little GreenFill the tank with COLD water and add about a 2 tablespoons of your detergent of choice then shake up the tank to activate the soap suds. Spray your fursuit completely using the nozzle of the little green until everywhere is completely covered. Start vacuuming with the direction of the fur making sure to go slow. Repeat the process with all of your suit parts until everything looks clean. Repeat this process as many times as needed until you're ready to rinse. To rinse the suit, empty the water/detergent tank and fill with COLD water without detergent this time. Using the nozzle once again, completely coat your suit until every part is completely damp. Now you can vacuum again making sure to remove as much water as possible. Once you are happy with how dry it is, brush the suit and place near a fan to dry. DO NOT hang any of your suit parts. That can damage your suit and leave creasing in the fur.
